Welcome to the Clinton County Clerk of Courts website. I hope you find this site helpful and informative. It has been my goal to make information easily available to the public and to find more efficient and cost-effective ways to serve the citizens of Clinton County.

The Clerk of Courts office maintains the records of the Court of Common Pleas and 12th Appellate District Court. The Clerk of Courts is considered the "core of the court ". The office is responsible for filing, docketing, indexing and preserving all court pleadings for civil, felony criminal and domestic relations cases.

Other responsibilities include: accepting bonds, recording and certifying notary commissions, administering oaths, filing state tax liens and judgment liens. Further this office is a certified acceptance agent for U.S. passports.

It is not the intention of the Clinton County Clerk of Courts to offer legal advice through these pages or through answering of questions. While knowledgeable about the operational procedures of the Court, the Clerk, Deputy Clerks and Administrative Assistant are not attorneys and cannot recommend specific legal options and by their answering questions should not be construed as such. When in doubt about your legal status, you should seek the advice of an attorney knowledgeable in the area of law about which you are inquiring.
