Clinton County Juvenile Court Services

Diversion

The Diversion Program offers an alternative procedure for alleged first-time non-violent offenders and tobacco offenders. The purpose of the Diversion Program is to provide direction to youth and families who have had little or no previous contact with the Juvenile Court. The goal of the program is to prevent further unruly and/or delinquent behavior without the necessity of formal court proceedings.

Eligible cases are screened by the Chief Probation Officer in order to determine appropriateness for the program. The nature and seriousness of the alleged offense, as well as, the resources and services available to the Diversion Program will be considered in making this determination. Eligible cases deemed inappropriate for the Diversion Program will be filed with the Juvenile Clerk of Court for formal court proceedings.
